Mac[Book] Fury

I thought it was the worst New Year I had on Monday

At about 1am in the morning on the 1st day of New Year, my macbook died on me. It suddenly shut off and never manage to boot up again. Always stucked at the grey loading screen with a very loud fan sound

I took the battery out and put it back in. Guess what, I got the best result. The MacBook was not even switching on, and it was not acknowledging my charger. I kind of panic-ed, and decided to look through this problem on the net with my bro's comp

Everyone said stuff about resetting the PRAM and SMC. I tried it a few times and it didn't work coz it just shut itself off halfway through. Though feeling super sad, I went to sleep coz it was gonna be a long day

Came back from malaysia this afternoon. Decided to try switching my MacBook on again, and guess what, it did not switch off =) So what I did was to try resetting the PRAM first by holding the option+command+P+R key before the first chime and only release it at the second chime. It worked, though this did not solve the problem my MacBook had

I decided to try resetting the SMC next, and it worked. I did so by taking out the battery, holding the power button for 5 seconds, putting my battery back in and plugging the charger back in. My charger finally had that green light again, which meant that it was being recognised again

I tried switching it on, and the loud fan sound was gone! =) However, the OS X was still refusing to boot, stopping at the grey loading screen. I switched it off and on again, this time holding the option key. I was led to the page to select my booting OS, in this case only OS X. If I had bootcamp on and XP installed, I'll have 2 OS to choose from

After about 10 secs, my MacBook finally booted and everything is back to normal!

Apparently I overheated my MacBook, and the SMC (System Management Controller) decided to take out all the possible source of heat, including shutting down my MacBook and not allowing any form of electrical charge from entering my MacBook, in this case is disabling the charger. By doing the above mentioned steps, the SMC was able to prevent the heat from melting my parts inside

After my MacBook 'rested' for a day while I was away at Malaysia, it allowed me to reset the SMC and let me run my MacBook again =)
